Calling campus researchers! Are you working on a science or engineering innovation? Do you want to explore its commercialization potential? The NSF I-Corps program can provide you with entrepreneurial education, mentoring and up to $50,000 in funding.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) created I-Corps (Innovation Corps) to bridge the gap between fundamental research discoveries in science and engineering, and the commercialization of technologies, products and processes with the potential to benefit society.
In this session, learn how participating in I-Corps programs could advance your innovation at this information session designed for busy students, postdocs and faculty. UW–Madison researchers and Discovery to Product (D2P) mentors who participated in regional and national I-Corps programs will share their experiences and answer attendees’ questions.
Hear from members of three UW–Madison teams that went through the regional and national NSF I-Corps Teams Programs in 2020 or 2021, seeking to identify the commercial path forward for innovations which originated on campus. Giri Venkataramanan, two members of his lab in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and D2P mentor Aimee Arnoldussen participated in the national I-Corps program in Summer 2020. Frank Pfefferkorn and Behzad “Buzz” Rankhoui from the Department of Mechanical Engineering participated in the national I-Corps program in Fall 2020. Guelay Bilen-Rosas and John Ma from the School of Medicine and Public Health’s Department of Anesthesiology first participated in a regional NSF I-Corps program, which qualified them to subsequently participate in the Spring 2021 national I-Corps program, along with D2P mentor Abram Becker.
