All Discovery to Product education programs are free and open to UW–Madison faculty, staff, and students.
Interested in joining the growing list of successful UW–Madison spinout companies? Consider attending one of our cohort-based courses, Innovation to Market (I2M) or Igniter. Modeled on the National Science Foundation’s I-Corps program, these multi-week courses use the industry-leading Business Model Canvas framework to help you assess the value of your innovation and develop an implementation strategy. A set number of teams (typically 15 or fewer) are admitted to each course.
Innovation to Market (I2M) is a five-week course that will help you learn how to avoid one of the main reasons startups fail: building something nobody wants. You probably have some hypotheses about how your innovation will meet customer needs, but have you gotten out of the building to really ground truth those assumptions? Igniter is an intensive eight-week course for teams that have matched their innovation to a viable market and are ready to move toward launching a startup. To ignite is to heat, to set in motion, to catch fire. The spark from your ideas is fueled by the Igniter course’s guidance to create and validate all aspects of your business model. Discovery to Product’s Innovation and Commercialization Specialists provide free coaching and mentoring to all UW–Madison innovators. We are veteran business developers, entrepreneurs, product managers, and startup executives that have experience in engineering and physical sciences, health care and life sciences, information technology, food science, and consumer goods. You don’t have to be a current or past participant in a D2P program to connect with us, and it’s never too early or late to check in to get help with your project.
